Oszkár Soma, a vampire and village Sin Eater, recounts various vignettes of his upbringing up until the moment he meets Vaughan Izsák- a bounty hunter of the preternatural. Izsák recognizes Soma for what it is and the two enter a relationship whose boundaries between a pet, a tool, and a lover become infinitely blurred.
